A Better You Challenge For The New Year - Group Support

Start off the new year with a little challenge called,

"A Better You"!  It will consist of two things.

First, organize your craft room and keep it tidy all year long.

I'll post pictures of my before craft room and the work in progress after pictures every month in a new blog post.  You can follow along and post your pictures in the Facebook group at the link below.
Sign-up for my newsletter that goes out every Tuesday for a chance to win a quarterly prize from my handmade Etsy shop, Markets Of Sunshine just for taking part in the challenge.  You must have a USA address to receive a prize.

Second, make healthier food choices like going organic by replacing one food a month from conventional grown to organic grown.  I promise you'll feel better than ever.

I'm on a rotation diet from my doctor.  I will be working with a health coach or dietician starting in January to help me add in the other pieces of the puzzle that I seem to be missing.

I have eczema on and behind my ears supposedly from food allergies.  We'll see if this new program solves that issue.
I also am missing an important probiotic in my gut. So I'll be starting on a probiotic too.

If you have any health issues you should find out if a functional medicine doctor or one that specializes in gut health can help resolve your issues.

You can follow along with me in the Facebook group as I share my experience with this new program.  It will be lots of fun!

That's it!  Are you up for the challenge?  If so, just get started now with an action plan.

Year End Review Of 2019 Organizing Challenge By Markets Of Sunshine

2019 Organizing Challenge year end review.

Out of all the rooms in my home that needed to be organized the most was my home office and craft room.  I'm happy to announce that we finished organizing and cleaning every room in our house with the exception of the garage.  That will have to be tackled in fast approaching new year of 2020.

My craft room has one final shelf to be put on the wall and then my organizing for that room will be complete.  Yay!  I'll take a video and show you the final results with my first blog post in January 2020.

Did you do the challenge with us?  If you did you must be very proud of what you were able to accomplish in 2019 now that your home is more organized and less cluttered.  It will always be a work in progress for us.  The daily to-do-list is always filled with more than we can get to that day.
So like most of us it gets pushed to the next day and something on that's day list gets moved to the next and so on.

Until the end of the year is staring you in the face and you look at that to-do list and see that there were just some things that did not get done.  But, never fear the things that still need doing.  Look back at what you did get done and stand up tall and reward yourself for a job well done!

I've already made myself a challenge for the new year.  Here it is...My challenge for the new year is to keep my craft room orderly and the floor clear at all times.  That will keep me very focused and busy picking up after myself when I am working on a project.

My 2nd challenge is to follow my rotation diet and heal my gut issues for the new year.  I am working with several qualified health care professionals that will be helping me reach this goal.
I'm already feeling better and sleeping better than I have in the last 15 years just by getting off the foods I was allergic too.  And, by getting off all the supplements that I no longer needed to be taking for my Lyme disease and endocrine system.

Now that I have a list of foods to avoid I can now read product labels which includes the supplements so I don't keep aggravating my body and causing inflammation.

So, tell me what you have challenged yourself to do in 2020.

Leave me a comment below or reply back to my newsletter that will be going out to your inbox every Tuesday.

See you all when all is new!

Sending You Sunshine,

Marsha

Altered Book For Unique Junk Journal Keepsake Gift Idea

Make a junk journal using a book that is altered makes a great gift idea for keeping a daily gratitude journal.

Watch this video of one of my past altered books that I sold in my Etsy shop, Markets Of Sunshine.

Do you have a book that has a beautiful cover that is just sitting on a shelf not being used?

Well turn it into a junk journal with a few simple steps.  It's a great project to do while sitting on the couch with one of your favorite shows running in the background.

To get started pick out a good size book with lots of pages.  Then start removing half the pages.

You want to be able to embellish each page which will add bulk back to the book.

I usually tear out every other page.  In some cases you'll need to take out 3 or 4 pages at a time if it is a really thick book.

Then get out all of your craft supplies and start putting together a beautiful foundation of layers on each page.  Watch the video to get inspiration.

This will be a new product line coming to my shop for 2020.  So be sure to Favorite my shop so you can grab one of these works of art for yourself.

Sign-up for my mailing list and receive 30% off your order.

All orders of $35 or more ship free in the USA.

Thanks so much for stopping by and watching my video.

If you'd like to subscribe to my YouTube channel just hit the subscribe button and little bell so you'll get notified when I add a new video.

4 Reasons You Should Keep A Daily Journal and Write In It Each Day

Do you know why you should be writing in a journal each day?
I'm going to share with you my personal story and medical statistics as to why you should be keeping on nearby.

If you are on social media you probably have friends and family following you.  Do you read their posts?  Have you noticed some saying that they can't sleep good.  Or, that they have an anxiety issue?  I know I read a post like these every day on all of my social media channels.

Why do we have a sleep and anxiety issue in the first place?  Well, if you pay attention to the world around you, you can't help but notice how angry people are when you are in the store or driving on the road.

Everyone seems to be in a rush to get somewhere and to get out of the store fast.  Or, to their destination before you when driving on the road.  It's this constant rush, rush, rush attitude that is causing all of this anger and anxiety.  So, how do you deal with it even if you don't have that same attitude?

Despite the fact that you might not be like the majority of people today we are nevertheless effected by the spirit of the world in general.  To counteract that negative affect on us we have to have an outlet.  For some it might me taking a walk in the park.  For others it might be reading the Bible.  For yet still others it might be watching TV.

Some have to take pills in order to deal with sleep and anxiety issues.  That is so sad.  But, I discovered an easy way to get rid of anxiety and sleep better with a few simple tips that I read in countless articles on the subject.

Here is a list of what I do each day in order to deal with anxiety and sleep better.

 Tip #1 -
Write in your journal every night before you go to bed.  Briefly document what positive things you accomplished for the day.  In another journal write down three things that you are grateful for that day.  Repeat this process every night.  ( I keep two journals for this process)

Tip #2 -
When anxiety floods your mind quickly think of something that brought you joy.  It can be anything that happened in your life even if it was a while back.  Then repeat the words, joy, peace, calm and love silently to yourself until you start to feel those qualities take over the anxiety.

Tip # 3 -
Use a method that helps you let go of those negative thoughts.  I like to use the Sedona method.
You ask yourself a series of questions while you're having the anxiety or negative thoughts.
Question 1 - Could I let this go?
Question 2 - Would I let this go?
Question 3 - When?
Question 4 - Why?

Each answer should be a positive response.  Then put that event out of your mind and replace it with a joyful one.  Do this each time those unpleasant feelings hit and soon you'll find they become less and less frequent in your day.

Tip # 4 -
Go to bed the same time each night and get up the same time each day.  Set your alarm so you don't sleep in too late.  This will help reset your internal clock and help your blood sugar to stay level.

For more great tips on dealing with anxiety and getting a good nights sleep you can Google the topic and find tons of great articles written by medical sources.

If you'd like to get started using a beautiful journal to implement these tips head on over to my Etsy shop, Markets Of Sunshine (<<<<< click link)and pick up a few of my handmade journals today.

Here is a short video I made of one of my latest vintage themed journal sets.  Enjoy!

Certified Wildlife Habitat - Marsha Jaramillo, Owner of Markets Of Sunshine

National Wildlife Federation certifies new wildlife habitat in Deltona, FL.

Mrs. Marsha Jaramillo, owner of Markets of Sunshine lives in Deltona, FL has successfully created a Certified Wildlife Habitat through its Garden for Wildlife program...

This was the welcome kit I received from the National Wildlife Federation after I completed the Garden for Wildlife program.  I am super excited and honored to do my part to create natural habitat locations for all of the wildlife in our area.

Since, I enjoy watching wildlife and feel at peace in nature.  My family helped me redesign our yard to make it more inviting and safe for the wildlife not only to give me more watching opportunities, it also helps me to be greener - reducing lawn to mow, cutting down on watering and saving time in the long run to enjoy time outside.

Over the last 29 years our backyard took on a life of it's own and went from a jungle to a well organized and structured environment.  Even our neighbor has complimented us on how lovely it looks now.  We installed more water sources such as a birdbath, planted native edible plants along with our birdhouses and thickets.
We have an abundance of trees that provide needed shelter during rain storms and away from predators.

Living a green organic lifestyle has been a part of our family for over 25 years.  Lyme disease has slowed me down but did not stop my love of nature and the outdoors.  I'm just more educated now and know what to look out for when I venture outside.

I tell everyone if you're going to go walking or hiking look out for ticks.  Check yourself from head to toe when you get back inside and shower right away. Ticks don't like the soap and will fall off of you.  We can be safe in nature if we are forewarned.

Okay, back to my yard transformation and what we have added. Even though we live in a huge housing community there is still lots of woods around the borders of the city on several sides.  As well as lakes and rivers.  This brings lots of wildlife such as raccoons, opossums, birds, rabbits and more to our backyards.

We were feeding them at night with cat food and vegetables but that brought some unwanted invaders too.  So, we decided to just plant fruit and berry plants and let the wildlife pick and choose what they want.

Be sure to plant organic and not to use any pesticides so the animals can eat a healthy meal without harmful side effects.  The one good thing about using edible plants that bring opossums is the fact that they eat ticks.  So it's a win, win in my book.

Here is a short list of the native plants we have in our garden habitat.

  • Florida native orchid
  • Live oaks
  • Azaleas
  • Bromeliads
  • Passion Flower
Since, Florida has a long growing season for most of the year we have found some great edible plants that will  give food to the wildlife all year long.  Here's that short list.

  • Blueberries
  • Blackberries
  • Mango
  • Avocado
  • Papaya
  • Soon to be planted are ...
  • Watermelon
  • Apple tree

Do you think that will keep the little critters tummy's full and satisfied? We've already noticed an increase in the bird population as well as butterflies.  We have huge rain trees that draw bees by the thousands when the flowers bloom several times a year.

I have a video of our backyard makeover on my YouTube channel, Here. <<<click to watch

Support a small business on Etsy and help keep the made in the U.S.A. movement alive and strong.  It seems like everything is made in China these days. Have you noticed that the quality is very cheap too.

An artisan takes pride in their work and puts hours of their heart and soul into every item they make.  It won't leave the studio unless it passes a critical eye of perfectionary scrutiny.

It's so hard to tell what an item will really be like until you have it in your own hands.  But, a video will help you see it in a 3D fashion.
Check out this video of my handmade work and see for yourself just how high the quality of our products really are before you buy.

Now you can head over to our Etsy shop, Markets Of Sunshine and pick up one of these cute journals and greeting cards that is truly made with love.  We'd love for you to subscribe to our YouTube channel and help us grow and spread the word about our small business.

Help Preserve The Monarch Butterfly - Monarch City USA

Have you heard that their is a buzz going around the U.S.A.?

It's all about saving the Monarch butterfly that is on the endangered species list.

Visit the Monarch City USA website and join the movement in your area.

I'm a big nature girl and love the outdoors from flowers to bees.  My passion for butterflies started when I was 7 years old on a trip to Cypress Gardens in Central Florida.  Ever since that day I fell head over heels in love with these fluttering creatures.

Since we have such mild winters here in Florida I decided I wanted to turn my backyard into a wildlife nature habitat for me and all of God's creatures in our area.  We already have raccoons and opossums visiting our yard.

I did some searching around on the Internet and found a site on my IG feed that featured the National Wildlife Federation website.(click link)  I was intrigued so I took a deeper look into how I can have my yard certified as a Wildlife Habitat.

It was super easy and fun to accomplish in just a few days.  I already had most of everything on their list and just needed a few more items to have my certification complete.  You can watch the fun on my YouTube channel, here. <<< click <<<

Lyme Disease Treatment - What Works and What Doesn't Part 1

Lyme is not for wimps!  Lyme disease is now a hot topic.  Years ago it was swept under the rug by doctor's and the insurance companies as an imaginary illness.  A lot has changed since then.  For one thing more doctor's and people in prominent places have Lyme disease and needed a cure fast.

What You Need To Know...

Here's the low down on this dastardly disease.   Lyme is a blood borne illness that can be spread through insects and people.  Any insect that transmits other diseases like a mosquito does can also transmit Lyme disease.

The most common way to get Lyme disease is from a deer tick.  They come in 3 sizes.  Specks that look like dirt.  Seeds that look like a poppy seed.  Tiny that you can actually see the legs.  The one that took a bite out of me back in December 2004 while on a camping trip in the Georgia mountains was the tiny size and had legs.

It washed off of me in the shower and I just happened to look down at the floor and saw it crawling up the side of the tile wall.  I stepped over and washed it down the drain.  Like a silly goose I didn't think anything of it because I was never taught about deer ticks.

You see I was raised in a family that hunted.  My Father went deer hunting every year and had hunting dogs and horses.  He would have us pull the ticks off the dogs.  I remember they were large and gray colored.

So being raised around someone like that made us dangerously vulnerable to this world of insect born illness.  I now warn every one to check themselves for ticks if they've been walking in grass.  Take a shower when you come inside and do a head to toe inspection of your body.

If you have dogs you are even more apt to catch the disease.  And, your poor dog does too.  So be sure to check them when you bring them in after every potty break.  Wear gloves and use hand soap or dish soap to get the tick off the animal before using the tweezers.

Classic Symptoms To Watch For...

The good thing is that the symptoms are the same for everyone. If you see a red spot anywhere on your body, a tick on you or near you or have been in the woods or parks and about one to two weeks later come down with flu like symptoms run to the doctor and get a blood test for Lyme disease.

There are now more advanced testing that doctor's can do that will be more accurate than the western blot or eastern blot tests.

  • Rashes. ...
  • Fatigue. ...
  • Achy, stiff, or swollen joints. ...
  • Headaches, dizziness, fever. ...
  • Night sweats and sleep disturbances. ...
  • Cognitive decline. ...
  • Sensitivity to light and vision changes. ...
  • Other neurological problems.
  • Heart palpitations
  • Low blood pressure
  • Pain where the tick bite was
  • Muscle stiffness
  • Memory loss
  • Food allergies
  • Extreme body heat that comes on suddenly
  • Ringing in the ears
  • Chemical sensitivity that comes on suddenly
  • Dental issues, i.e. bone loss, gum infections
  • Blood sugar issues that get worse
Educate Yourself and Be Your Own Medical Advocate

After 15 years of living with Lyme disease I've learned a thing or two about what works and what doesn't work as far as treatment goes.  If you don't get diagnosed within the first 3 months and get started taking doxycycline or penicillin you are doomed to have chronic Lyme, no matter what anyone says or claims.

It took 1 year for me to be diagnosed by a Chiropractic Physician and then a follow-up blood test with a MD Naturopath to confirm I in fact had Lyme disease.

By that point I was in dire straights and on a run away roller coaster heading down-hill with no breaks.  It took me 7 years to finally get off the crazy path and find the right one.  It was all through lots of prayer and friends directing me to the right source at the right time.

In 2013 I found my saving grace by the hand of God, a 76 year old MD who had left the conventional way and went the functional medicine and homeopathic way instead.  He was saving lives and became an expert in the field of chronic illness.  I will always be grateful for those that lead me on the path to getting a life back.

You can find his videos on YouTube that will give you an idea of what he was like.  Sadly, he passed away from sepsis in 2015.   We would have 3 hour sessions for $150.  He would use the Zyto machine and his incredible wisdom to make my protocol.  I went from 98 pounds to 126 in a year and a half.

After his death I was on the hunt again for the right doctor.  I tried a total of 3 (over the next two years) before I found my current functional medicine doctor, Manuel Faria, in December 2017, located in Altamonte Springs, FL.  He's introduced me to testing that was never done before by other doctor's I'd seen.  It's top notch tests through these labs that have opened my eyes to what is possible when you know where to turn for help.

Here's the list of lab tests you might want to consider with your doctor.

  • Genomix Nuturition 55 Gene Comprehensive Nutriginomic Report
  • GI Map by Diagnostic Solutions Lab
  • Organix by Genova diagnostics
  • Dutch Test for Hormone levels
  • Brain Span Cell Health Assessment
  • Bio Energetic Testing from Be Healthy Naturally in IA

How To Make Your Own Inspirational Cards and Envelopes For Gift Giving

Be creative and use up packs of card stock with inspirational quotes to make your own cards and envelopes for giving a gift on that special occasion.  You can sew the embellishment to the front of the card or envelope before you seal it on the sides.

I like to sew my cards because it gives it a very neat effect and let's them know you spent time making this just for them.

You can cluster the embellishments together and then sew them in place.  Tuck it behind the inspirational quote and sew it together.  Finally, sew it to the front of the card or envelope.

Deciding what size card or envelope you want to make depends on the size of the embellishment and quote block.  For extra fun you can make the top of the quote block open so it can be an extra pocket for hiding little tucks inside.

Check out my finished cards and envelopes in my Etsy shop,
