Here is the interview I conducted with Kayla:


1.What is your favorite material to work with?

I like to use soft sketching pencils (Derwent and Reeves brands) for my animal drawings but when I draw anime or steampunk I like the way India Ink looks ( Faber-Castell).

2. What are some of your other hobbies, besides your artwork?

I also make jewelry such as earrings, bracelets and necklaces using a variety of materials. I also love gardening and landscaping I look forward to pursuing that more fully in the future.

1.  Where do you get your inspiration from when you draw?

Well, I love nature and sea life so I look to that for inspiration. I'm also getting into anime and steampunk art work.
 2.  What is your favorite item in your shop, and why?

That's a tough one I don't have a favorite honestly but it seems that my note card butterfly drawing and note card dove drawing are my best sellers!

Here is the interview I conducted with Rafael:

1. I know you have recently moved your Vintage 50s Treasures shop over to your main shop Jeanpatchbymk on Etsy, tell us why you did this?

We opened our Jeanpatchbymk shop in 2008 that had handmade items as the main focus. But, we had vintage collectibles that we wanted to sell so we opened the Vintage 50s Treasures shop thinking that separating the items would be best.
Over the years it has become harder to run two shops so we had to step back and ask ourselves what could we do different?
So we decided to combine the two shops to give our full attention to one shop.
　
2. I read on your profile that you enjoy working with wood. What are some items that you have made with wood?

I have made custom cabinets for kitchens and game rooms. I have always helped my wife in her craft business and throughout the years she has had me make decorative shelves and wooden boxes for her.
I make the boxes for her secret compartment books.

3 What are some of your hobbies?

I help my wife in our craft business. I consider it a hobby. I relax by listening to classical music and bible recordings.

 Here's the interview I conducted with Debra:

1. What do you enjoy most about having your own Etsy shop?

I enjoy working on the computer and learning new things that can be done with the computer. I also enjoy working with other Etsy shop owners and their positive outlooks and passion in selling their own items.
A lot of people work long and hard to create and craft items to sell on Etsy.　


2. I read in your profile that you love working with beads. Can you tell us when and how your love of beads started?
　
I  grew up in N.J. by the beach and, as a child I worked with beads and also painted my own art work. I am pretty much self-taught.  My parents where crafty people and so were my brother and sisters.  I was involved in 4-H for 9 years as a child and then I spent 2 years as a leader in 4-H.  So crafting was whatever and whenever as a child.


3. What is your short-term goal for your shop? And what is your long-term goal for your shop?

My short-term goal is to make it to 60 sales by Christmas.

My long-term goal is to see how my sales go on Etsy and then maybe to start selling my art work that I have painted.  My long term goals are ever changing and evolving.

1. How long has your etsy shop been opened?

I opened it in June 2008!

2. How did you choose which items you wanted in your shop?
 I started with items that I love to make and had experience in making.

3. Can you tell us about some of the items that you have for sale?

 You'll find altered books, mini scrapbook albums and crochet items.  An altered book is made from a vintage book that is hollowed out and embellished to be used to hold or store your treasures. 

4. What is your short -term goal for your shop?  What is your long-term goal for your shop?

 My short term goal is to expand on my altered book line and vintage hankie greeting card and mini journal collection.
My long term goal is to reach 500 sales by the end of 2013!

5.What do you enjoy best about being an etsy shop owner?

I enjoy being my own boss.  I can make my own hours and decide what items I want in my shop.  I love being able to offer my customer's the highest customer satisfaction possible when they shop with me.
