Here is the interview that I conducted with Debra:

1.  When you design an item for your shop, what do you use for your inspiration?

Anything can inspire me to create an item. From colors, nature or the holidays. I never limit myself.

2. Do you take custom orders? If so how do you make sure that your customer is satisfied with the finished product?

Yes I do make custom orders.  I talk to or email the customer about their idea and then I create their item.  I will send pictures of the completed item and if the customer is satisfied they can purchase it.  Also, when the customer receives their item they can let me know if it is what they want. It's all about making the customer happy.


3. What do you enjoy most about having your own etsy shop?

Being creative in my own personal way.  I like the way etsy gives you the space to show your personal creations and also the ability to sell your items to customers that will enjoy your creations.


4. What do you enjoy most about being part of the sfgc team?

The SFGCTEAM helps it's members to sell their creations and items and also the team helps us to get noticed in etsy and outside of etsy through blogs, facebook, and samples. The team meetings are great also. I have learned a lot from the SFGCTEAM.

Here is the interview that I conducted with Della.

1. What are some things that you use for inspiration when you are designing an item for your shop? 

 I love ribbon and I'll often design a project around it.  I'm also inspired by color combinations that I see around me such as in nature, the current color trends in home decor and in attractive ads.  I'm always thinking about "What makes me buy this product?"  Is it the packaging, color, message?

 2.  Do you ever get custom orders?  If so what advise do you have for other team members on how to make sure that your customer is happy with your finished product. 

Yes.  I do quite a bit of custom work locally.  For my online shops, I offer personalized messages in my cards and color customization on some of my gift items.  Communication helps with customer satisfaction.  To make custom work profitable, I find it helps to have a basic design that you then customize.

3.  What are your short-term goals for your shop?   To have 150 items.  What are your long-term goals for your shop? 

To offer kits with instruction and monthly subscription items.

 4.  Are you currently having any sales? 

Yes, I've steadily increased my sales this year.

 5.  Do you have any current coupons for your shop?

Here is the interview I conducted with Cynthia:

1.  How do you encourage your customers to leave feedback for your shop?

I ask my customers to give me feedback by putting it on their receipt.  I also ask if they would leave feedback when they receive their purchase.  I have gotten feedback from all of my sales but one, so I emailed them asking again for feedback and I got it!

2.  I absolutely love your idea of having a weekly special!!   
Has having a weekly special item in your shop helped to increase your sales and is there anything else that you have done that has been successful in increasing sales?
I have only been doing the weekly special for 2 weeks. I choose an item that has high stats and then I either lower the price or offer free shipping.  It hasn't been long enough for me to tell how it is going to work, but I think that when people catch on it is going to be a good thing. The Weekly Special is something that I will continue to do.

3.  Do you have a blog? 
If so could you please share your blog url address?

4. The photos in your shop are so professional looking. 
Could you share one or two tips with us on how you take your pictures?
I like to take my pictures where there is natural sunlight, this shows the true colors and textures of what I am photographing.  I have a window seat in my dining room and that is where I shoot my photos.  I have wanted to be a photographer so that helps too.  I have many photos on my walls that I have taken myself that people think I bought. I use my IPhone to take my pictures, but if you use a camera tripod it helps to get a steady picture.

Ladybug:  Marsha applied for the Etsy Fellowship Grant at the end of September and we were approved to receive help from Etsy!   Yay!!  
This is a great opportunity for our team.  It helps to get us in the spotlight of the Etsy Admin. team members. We are no longer just another pretty face to them.  It also goes to show you that if we keep trying eventually things will take off in the right direction.  Our team captain, Marsha, is  always looking for ways to get our co-op noticed, which will bring in both traffic and sales to all of the members. 

It takes all of us doing our part no matter how small it may seem to keep the wheel of progress turning for our team.  
Next year, Marsha will be applying each quarter for grants, so we need to have another great fundraiser for them to get excited about and help us out with.  That is why our participation is so vital for all the activities that we are doing in order for us to succeed.

1.What is your favorite material to work with?

I like to use soft sketching pencils (Derwent and Reeves brands) for my animal drawings but when I draw anime or steampunk I like the way India Ink looks ( Faber-Castell).

2. What are some of your other hobbies, besides your artwork?

I also make jewelry such as earrings, bracelets and necklaces using a variety of materials. I also love gardening and landscaping I look forward to pursuing that more fully in the future.

Here is the interview I conducted with Cynthia:

1. Cynthia, when you design a piece of jewelry, where do you get your inspiration?

I draw my inspiration from vintage jewelry.  It is timeless and made to last.  I also look around at my supplies when I am at my desk and  things will start coming together.

2. Have you ever gotten any custom orders?  If so do you have any tips for other shops who take custom orders?

I have received custom orders. I recommend when you take a custom order that you both communicate well about what is being ordered.  Send pictures if can: they are a great help.  And double check the order with the customer, because it is so easy for there to be a misunderstand by either party about what the order is.

3. I noticed that you are having a sale in your shop this month.  Can you tell us about it?

Thanks for asking because I just changed my sale.  Now if you buy a necklace you get a pair of earrings of my choosing for FREE through the month of September and you do not need a coupon code.  You can go to my shop to see the details.  In October I am expanding into vintage jewelry and purses.

4.  What is the one thing you enjoy doing besides making vintage jewelry?  

I enjoy spending time with my family.  We no longer have children at home, so I enjoy when we get together.  I also like to take walks through the small river town we live in with our two dogs.
