Fabric Scrap Busting Challenge - Adult Reward System #6 Zero Waste

I am finding so many fun things to add to my Adult Reward System list for my #2019OrganizingChallenge that are adding more happiness and contentment to my daily routine.

Here is my Adult Reward System #6 idea, Zero Waste.
My inspiration for this reward, Fabric scrap busting challenge, came from my friend Lynda Coker over at 
Collage Along With Lynda.

If you are new to my blog you might be wondering what is this Adult reward system all about.  

It goes along with my Organizing challenge that I started for myself and my friends for 2019. 

We really needed some motivation and support to get the ball rolling to clean-up and tidyup the rooms in our home.

Things are going along as planned thanks to my worksheet that helps you not only plan out what room you are going to clean each month.  But, it also helps you track your progress as well.

Fabric scrap bookmarks

You don't need to be a expert sewer to make these pretty gifts from your fabric scraps.

Here is a list of what you'll need.

#1 - fabric scraps

#2 - fusible web

#3 - felt

#4 - card stock

#5 - sewing machine

#6 - creativity

Now just let your imagination run wild and make your very own note cards, gift tags and bookmarks to give to your friends or family as a' thinking of you' gift and surprise them.

It's a great way to relax after a day of chores and tidying up around the house.

Etsy Referral Link: Get 40 Free Listings When You Open Your Shop

Sell on Etsy and get 40 free listings when you open your shop using our referral link.  
We have recently helped 2 other friends get started selling their handmade wares on Etsy using our referral link.  You help them and they help you.  

Etsy rewards both of you with 40 free product listings.  That means when you are stocking your shop with your handmade products instead of paying .20 per listing you don't pay one penny.

Etsy also allows you to sell vintage items. That means they have to be 20 years old or older.  Here are some tips to help you know how to have a successful shop on Etsy.

#1 -Themed shops do best on Etsy.  You don't want to open a shop selling everything under the sun.  It confuses folks for one thing and it looks silly for another thing.

#2 - If you stick to one theme you gain respect and it builds authority.  Example: MOSColoringPages was one of our recent referrals.  They sell their artwork with different options.  You can pick note cards, coloring pages, prints, calendars and journals.

#3 - You see how that gives a cohesive look to their shop.  Visit MOSColoringPages and Favorite their shop and each item. (click the box that says:Favorite in their shop home page)
 This will help them get off to a great start.

Our next friend opened her shop called: EWD Just Bags
She offers bags in all shapes and sizes.  Her is a sample of you can buy in her shop.  Sandwich/snack bag.



#4 - Stock your shop with at least 10 items in the same category before you open your shop to the public.  Add them in different colors and price points.

#5 - Offer items that go together in sets.

Life Lessons: DIY Stationery Sets Made From Photos

Last week I shared with you a fun and easy way to make your own note cards.  Today, I'm going to show you how to make your own stationery sets from photos. I'm going to use the photo of the butterfly sitting on the flower that I took in my front yard.

You can also use a family photo when you are writing to those who would appreciate seeing it.  Or, one of your pet etc...

Step 1: Open a word document or open office type program

Step 2: Insert the photo you would like and resize it using the little boxes in each corner and move it either to the far right or far left side of the screen.

Step 3: Save your stationery

Step 4: Open a conversion program such as Zamzar and change your file to a pdf file

Step 5: You can now print out your new stationery 

Step 6: Share your stationery with friends

How to be a good friend with this old custom.
Technology has in my opinion ruined the art of conversation and the ability for people to write true feelings and put them in their own words.  Especially, the art of the handwritten note has been lost and coined an 'old custom'.

Let's be honest.  Technology has turned people into impatient, cranky, instant gratification and self-centered robots.  Everyone has to be right and have it their way.  Am I right?  See what I mean!

If, you were to die tomorrow what do you think your so-called friends would have to say about You?

If, your so-called friend(s) were to die tomorrow what would you have to say about Them?

• Would they say....
   She was always there

• when I needed her the most!

• She was a good listener!

• She would send me a handwritten card just when I needed cheering up!

• She could help me see the brighter side of a bad situation!

Or, would they say....

She never stopped talking.  I could never

get a word in anywhere!

It was always about her problems and her life!

She never acknowledged my needs!

She never sent me a handwritten card or letter

in the mail when I needed cheering up!

She never remembered my wedding Anniversary!

 What would you miss most about them?What would they miss most about you?
These are a few things to think about...

Now, compare these comments.  Which, one would you say was 'a good friend'?  We all have areas in life that we can improve in so that we can be a good friend.

Ask your friends what they like best about you.  Ask them where you could make improvements.  Be ready to give them the same list and be ready to make the needed changes so you can improve in your relationship with others and be a 'good friend' now and be remembered as a 'good friend' even after your gone.

Are you ready for the Adventures of Ranger Spencer?

Our story left off with Ranger Spencer discovering who was nabbing the cat food from Bubbles dish.  It was the wily Possum we named, Tyson.
Ranger Spencer has been keeping a sharp lookout on the gang of Ferrell cats too.  While trying to figure out how to rid his backyard of these two unwanted trespassers he has made a new discovery.
A few nights back while out on patrol he saw a flash of light in the far corner of the yard under the oak tree.
He ignored it at first but there it was a second, third and fourth time.  Now, he had to take a closer look.
He took out his micro-binoculars and to his surprise it was Tyson Possum.
He quickly scanned the area and saw another flickering of light off in the distance.
What was this all about?  He would soon find out or his name wasn't Ranger Spencer!
He decided to contact the local B.Y.W.S. better known as the backyard watcher's society and start and underground investigation.
The head of each branch would attend the meeting.  Bubbles was in charge of delivering his secret messages.  A small box was attached to her collar and she would deposit one tiny rolled up piece of paper tied with grass at each drop-off point.
The society had members from birds to squirrels and everything in between.
Bubbles would sneak out at mid-night while the Ferrell cats were busy scouring the neighborhood trash cans.
The note read:
Urgent meeting!
Meet at mid-night on Sunday in the tunnel under the Palmetto bush next to the shed.
Will Ranger Spencer and the B.Y.W.S. solve this mystery?
