This week our featured artist from Markets of Sunshine is Kayla from Delecto Art!  Let's give her a big Sunshine Welcome!  Woot! 1.  Where do you find the vintage jewelry for your shop?

I am fortunate enough to live near lots of great consignment shops and flea markets. And my friends have given me items that they do not want or have found at a shop and bought for me. My sister has a good eye and is always thinking of me when she is shopping

2.  What is your favorite  section in your shop and why?

 Wow that is a tough question. I would say my favorite section of my shop is hats. Which I am going to add next year. I have been collecting them but they are hard to let go of. But it is something I will add to my shop in 2013.

3.  What is your weekly special?

My weekly special is my gold or silver Christmas tree earrings

1.  What made you decide to open your own etsy shop?

When my brother and I had to close down our store due to health reasons, I still wanted to sell what I made, so I opened up the Etsy shop to share my work. It has been a blessing.

2.  What do you enjoy most about having your own shop?

The freedom to work when I can and make thing that I love to do.  Etsy has been a life saver to me.

Here is the interview that I conducted with Debra:

1.  When you design an item for your shop, what do you use for your inspiration?

Anything can inspire me to create an item. From colors, nature or the holidays. I never limit myself.

2. Do you take custom orders? If so how do you make sure that your customer is satisfied with the finished product?

Yes I do make custom orders.  I talk to or email the customer about their idea and then I create their item.  I will send pictures of the completed item and if the customer is satisfied they can purchase it.  Also, when the customer receives their item they can let me know if it is what they want. It's all about making the customer happy.


3. What do you enjoy most about having your own etsy shop?

Being creative in my own personal way.  I like the way etsy gives you the space to show your personal creations and also the ability to sell your items to customers that will enjoy your creations.


4. What do you enjoy most about being part of the sfgc team?

The SFGCTEAM helps it's members to sell their creations and items and also the team helps us to get noticed in etsy and outside of etsy through blogs, facebook, and samples. The team meetings are great also. I have learned a lot from the SFGCTEAM.

1.  What made you decide to open your own Etsy shop?

Etsy is the perfect venue to sell handmade goods.  With all the wonderful tools they have available for use, the low cost of doing business, easy ways to advertise and the wonderful support you receive both from the company and the many members of the Etsy Community, I knew it would be a wonderful way to connect with customers and artists alike.


 2.  Do you have a blog?

3.  What is your favorite material to work with?

Since I sew and design for a living, working with all kinds of different fabrics is a real treat.  Whether it's your basic cotton or real silk, velvet or anything in-between. . . I love working with them all.

I have so many!  Love crafting and learning the "old ways" of doing things.  From hand sewing, cooking on an open fire to tending the vegetable garden and my herbs. . . there is always something that captivates my interest and keeps me busy!

Here is the interview I conducted with Cynthia:

1.  How do you encourage your customers to leave feedback for your shop?

I ask my customers to give me feedback by putting it on their receipt.  I also ask if they would leave feedback when they receive their purchase.  I have gotten feedback from all of my sales but one, so I emailed them asking again for feedback and I got it!

2.  I absolutely love your idea of having a weekly special!!   
Has having a weekly special item in your shop helped to increase your sales and is there anything else that you have done that has been successful in increasing sales?
I have only been doing the weekly special for 2 weeks. I choose an item that has high stats and then I either lower the price or offer free shipping.  It hasn't been long enough for me to tell how it is going to work, but I think that when people catch on it is going to be a good thing. The Weekly Special is something that I will continue to do.

3.  Do you have a blog?

4. The photos in your shop are so professional looking. 
Could you share one or two tips with us on how you take your pictures?
I like to take my pictures where there is natural sunlight, this shows the true colors and textures of what I am photographing.  I have a window seat in my dining room and that is where I shoot my photos.  I have wanted to be a photographer so that helps too.  I have many photos on my walls that I have taken myself that people think I bought. I use my IPhone to take my pictures, but if you use a camera tripod it helps to get a steady picture.

These clubs will consist of do-it-yourself kits for your fun crafting projects.  And also finished products that are useful in every home, and things you just can't live without!

Back to you Ladybug!!!

Ladybug:  Marsha applied for the Etsy Fellowship Grant at the end of September and we were approved to receive help from Etsy!   Yay!!  
This is a great opportunity for our team.  It helps to get us in the spotlight of the Etsy Admin. team members. We are no longer just another pretty face to them.  It also goes to show you that if we keep trying eventually things will take off in the right direction.  Our team captain, Marsha, is  always looking for ways to get our co-op noticed, which will bring in both traffic and sales to all of the members. 

It takes all of us doing our part no matter how small it may seem to keep the wheel of progress turning for our team.  
Next year, Marsha will be applying each quarter for grants, so we need to have another great fundraiser for them to get excited about and help us out with.  That is why our participation is so vital for all the activities that we are doing in order for us to succeed.
