4 Weeks to a Clutter Free Home: One Room at a Time: Week 2

Welcome to week 2 of our 4 weeks to a clutter free room challenge.  We are tackling our house one room at a time.

Last week I challenged you to a join me in my Summer break clean-up of my home one room at a time.  In just 4 weeks to a clutter free room you should be feeling pretty proud of yourself right now in what you accomplished in week 1.  I know I do.

We are now in week 2 of our challenge.  Here is my progress with my home office.  The floor is pretty much clean with just a few bags that need to go on another book shelf once my husband has it built.

Home Office
We are working on that today.  He has been busy pressure washing off a plastic shelving unit we had stored outside that we will bring inside and use in my garage storage room.

Cutting Table
Once, it is in place and all the bags are organized I'll show you the results.  In the meantime, here is what my office now looks like after the 1 hour I spent today cleaning and organizing the tables and floor.

Sewing Table

My friend Lynda from Icky Chic Design has joined me and I wanted to share her progress with you.  Hop on over to her blog Between the Pages and be sure to let her know that Marsha of Markets of Sunshine sent you over to say: Howdy!

You can jump in at anytime during our 4 weeks to a clutter free room challenge.  If you do a blog post about it and mention my blog like Lynda did, I'll give you a shout out next week.

I'm cheering for you all!  Are you in?  Leave a comment and let me know.  Don't forget to use our hashtag #clutterfreeroom and #mosgiftclub

Summer Break: 4 Weeks To A Clutter Free Room!

Summer break.  Those words are being rejoiced by kid's everywhere.  Parent's on the other hand may not be so joyful. School is out and the kid's have the whole Summer to spend helping Mom and Dad turn their messy room into a clutter free room.  Right!  If, you rolled your eyes or said something a little more colorful than I did, I hear you.  So, how can you get the kid's to help out around the house this Summer without the same old excuses?

Lead by example.  If, they see you making goals for yourself over the Summer they will have no excuse to not do their part.  If, you are tired of fighting with your child to get them to clean their room.  If, you have you tried every time tested piece of advise with little success.  If, you can't remember when was the last time your child cleaned their own room.  Maybe, it's time for a change.

If, you can relate to any of these issues then you'll want to stick around for this series of posts about how You can take control back over your life and home with just 1 hour a day or on the weekend in each room in your house.

Cleaning my own house has inspired me to create a new product line for our 2 Etsy shops that I'll introduce at the end of the series.
It will help your child keep their room clean and organized in a colorful, fun and useful way.  It's something that can grow with you or your child.  It's sustainable, so it will last a lifetime.  It's affordable so it saves you money in the long run.

Week 1:
Let's face it.  Technology has changed our lives.
Action step #1 -Try going a entire weekend with no cell phone, tablet or laptop in your life.  What about turning the TV off for the weekend!  Yikes!  Most of us would first go into shock and squirm and then there would be total silence.

I dare you to give it a try and see what happens at your house.  But, I can guarantee you that if you do, you will get more done than you ever thought possible.

My husband and I have made a personal decision to cancel the paid TV service. I then took it a step further and decided to not even watch TV anymore and see what we could get done by not being lazy and being a couch potato every night.

It has been amazing!  Now in the evenings after dinner we can actually get to talk and relax and just enjoy the quiet.  We are now empty nester's and at first all we could do is talk about how much we missed our daughter being around.

But, after a few weeks we decided to focus on us and our needs as a couple.  We have several home projects that needed finishing and now instead of the TV stealing our time we have been working on the rooms in the house that were unfinished.

In just one hour we were able to go through 6 boxes of stuff and actually begin to see more of the floor instead of walking in this little narrow pathway.

We both rejoiced over what we accomplished. A clean floor!  So, each weekend we spend time together doing fun things like going to garage sales and then in the evening we tackle one room or project in about an hours time.

In just one hour my husband built me this cool bookcase.  It now is my storage space for our beanie baby inventory we sell in our Pioneer Fundraiser Etsy shop.  Once, we get each room organized we will be able to start on our new product line for our other 2 Etsy shops, Markets of Sunshine and My Secret Compartments.

I challenge you to reduce stress in your life and join me during this 4 weeks to a clutter free room series.  Leave comments telling me what room you are starting on and what progress you have made each week.

Are you in?  Let me hear from you in the comment box below.  Use the hashtags #mosgiftclub & #clutterfreeroom with your comment. Tune in next week and see more photos of our progress.  Week#2 - 4 Weeks to a clutter free room will have an easy check-list for the family to use to help get things rolling and to show your progress.

At, the end of the series there will be a reward given to one of the families who have participated each week.  You will be put in a drawing to win one of my new products I'll be launching at the beginning of August 2016.

Happy Uncluttering!

Sending You Sunshine,

Marsha Jaramillo

Farmer's Market: Buy Local & Support Handmade or Homemade

Buy Local!  Support Handmade or Homemade!
A great way to buy local is at your farmer's market day.

Does your town host a farmer's market day?  I'm so excited that the town next to me here in Florida is now starting their own farmer's market day.  Wahoo!

The Tractor Supply Store in Osteen, Florida is hosting the first                                 Market Day on July 9th.
                     To sign-up go to TSCEventPartners.com

I am getting busy increasing my inventory so that I can sign-up for a future event once the weather gets cooler.  But, in the meantime, I will be going to do my part to buy local and support the other handmade and homemade Artisan's in the area.

I'd like to hear from you in the comments box below.  Do you support your local farmer's market?  What is your favorite reason for doing so.

What about your local Tractor Supply Store?  My favorite reason for visiting is to buy organic vegetable plants and seeds and browse the Mary Jane's Farm magazine while I wait for my husband who is like a child in a candy shop cause there is so much to see.

If, you'd like to see some of the handmade products that I will be selling at the farmer's market take a look at my post about my Gift Sampler Boxes.

My Etsy shop is always open to you 24/7 from the comfort of wherever you are via internet access.  I ship anywhere around the world too.

We hope you have enjoyed our June news from our MOS Gift Club.  We look forward to reading your comments.  Don't forget to use the hashtags #cheerup and #MosGiftClub and share our post on your social media to win one of our irresistible handmade gifts each month.

Life Lessons: DIY Stationery Sets Made From Photos

Last week I shared with you a fun and easy way to make your own note cards.  Today, I'm going to show you how to make your own stationery sets from photos. I'm going to use the photo of the butterfly sitting on the flower that I took in my front yard.

You can also use a family photo when you are writing to those who would appreciate seeing it.  Or, one of your pet etc...

Step 1: Open a word document or open office type program
Step 2: Insert the photo you would like and resize it using the little boxes in each corner and move it either to the far right or far left side of the screen.
Step 3: Save your stationery
Step 4: Open a conversion program such as Zamzar and change your file to a pdf file
Step 5: You can now print out your new stationery
Step 6: Share your stationery with friends

If you would like to receive a free copy of my butterfly stationery join my Free MOS Gift Club and we'll send it to your inbox.

The Art of Nature: Make Your Own Note Cards From Your Photos

Photo Note Cards From Nature

This week I am sharing with you the art of nature and what you can make with your own photos taken from nature.

Life is full of lessons all around us.  We have to take the time to see what lessons we can learn from the nature around us and it will reveal those lessons to us one at a time.

This photo was taken in my front yard.  It is a beautiful swallowtail butterfly sitting on my flowering butterfly bush.  I happen to adore butterflies and have tons of flowering plants in my yard to attract them as well as the honey bees.

What you'll need to make your own note card from photos you have taken.  If you have a photo printer you can buy 4x6 photo paper and print out your own prints after you have uploaded off your phone or camera.
If not, you can use several online sites like SnapFish for a very reasonable price.  Or, take your camera or phone to your nearby drug store such as Walgreens.

1.  Photos you've taken and printed out 4x6 inches
2.  White Card Stock 8 1/2 x 11 inches
3.  Glue Stick
4.  Scissors
5.  Cutting tool

To begin simply lay your photo on the corner of your card stock and glue it in place.

Next, you'll want to fold the card stock over to meet the edge and smooth out the fold using a butter knife or bottom of a plastic bottle.

Now you are ready to cut the card stock to fit the size of your photo (4x6 inches)

You can also use scissors if you do not have a cutting tool like mine.  Use your glue stick and coat the back of the photo and place it on top of the card stock.

You just made your own photo note card that you can send to a friend to #cheerup anytime your heart moves you to show love from the lessons of nature.

I hope you enjoyed this easy DIY Photo Note Card life lesson from nature.  Stay tuned as this series continues throughout the year as I share more life lessons from nature that you can share with your friends and family members.

We hope you have enjoyed the news from our VIP Sunshine Club and we look forward to reading your comments.  Don't forget to use the hashtags #giveaway, #cheerup and #MosGiftClub and share our post on your social media to win one of our irresistible handmade gifts next week.
