Hidden Gifts Treasure Hunt

Markets of Sunshine is hosting a hidden gifts treasure hunt this Saturday, May 31, 2014 in Deltona, Florida.  There will be 10 bags sprinkled around at different business locations.  Be sure to thank them for letting us hide a gift at their store.  This is a great way for you to get to know more about what they have to offer, so don't just grab and run.  Take your time and browse a while!

Look for the yellow daisy signs (image below) that will be posted around the city and you'll find the hidden treasure!

Each location will have one brown bag hidden somewhere in the immediate area.  The bag will also have the yellow daisy label, Markets of Sunshine so you'll know it when you see it!   When you find a bag take a picture and post it on our Facebook page, click here!  Give the location so we can mark if off the list and we will tell you how many more bags are still at large, waiting to be found.

Happy Hunting!  Each brown bag will contain a handmade gift from one of our vendors.  Check out our Vendor Classified page at the top of this page and visit each shop to get an idea of what kind of items will be in the bag.

Compliments of Markets of Sunshine!  One location will have a gift basket drawing so be sure to fill out the entry form completely for your chance to win what is in the gift basket!

Foster Kid's Care Packages! - Donations Wanted!

Welcome to our newest blog follower's and newsletter subscribers.  We have some great things for you this week to share with all your friends.  First, a fun DIY project you can do with unwanted books better known as Altered Books.    Next, we are taking donations of handmade products that will go in our care packages that will be gifted to children in foster care as well as to the foster parents and case workers.
I'd like to tell you a personal experience as to why this is so near to my heart.  My Mom and Aunt were put in a children's home at age 13 and 14 because their Father was getting a divorce from his 2nd wife.  They were there for months until their biological Mother came and got them.  They lived with her for a year and half until she got tired of them and send them to live with their Aunt.
This experience effected them both so much that my Mom married at age 15 and her sister at age 16.  I can still see the pain in my Mom's eyes when she talks about that time of her life.  It made her feel unloved and abandoned.
So, here is how you can help me make a difference in these children's lives that are living in foster care and feeling unloved and abandoned.
The first event is coming up in September and we will need to make 50 care packages for the children.  They are going to participate in a fishing tournament.   The next event is in November and we will need 300 care packages for both the children and adults.   This is there end of the year Adoption Day celebration and fundraiser to make the community aware of the need for finding forever homes for these children who are in foster care.
If you would like to help us fill these care packages, please contact us at: A.S.A.P.!  Our target is to fill 300 care packages with unisex items such as bath and body products, jewelry, hand towels, t-shirts, tote bags, backpacks, journals and more.  If it is useful and can be used by either a boy or girl then please feel free to contact me for further details.
DIY Project

Altered book journal - This is a fun and easy project for any age.  Here is what you'll need.

  • Elmer's stick glue
  • Aleen's tacky glue
  • Georgia Pacific printer paper
  • Mead lined paper
  • Scotch double sided tape
  • K & Company embellishment packs (buttons, ribbon, brads)
  • Basic Grey embellishment packs
  • La Di Da scrapbook embellishments
Reserved for Maddie Only- Custom Order - Repurposed Junk Journal

As you can see in the above photos you can alter the pages in any fashion.  I folded down pages to make pockets and then used the Elmer's glue stick to secure it in place.  I used the Aleen's tacky glue to attach all the cute little journaling blocks so I could make labels for each pocket.  K&Company, Basic Grey and La Di Da are just a few of the great scrapbook embellishments you can use for your altered book journal.
If you would like us to make you a custom altered book journal, please visit my Etsy shop, Jeanpatch Holistics.

If you live here in the U.S. and make family friendly products and would like help getting the word out to the public, please visit our advertising page at the top of the website for more information on how Markets of Sunshine promotes small business owners.

I hope this post has touched your heart and motivated you to get involved with us in our mission to make a difference in the lives of children living in foster care here in this country.

Markets of Sunshine Featured Shop: PF Candle Company

Cover Photo
Welcome to another great week of promoting our top seller's here at Markets of Sunshine.  Graduation is just around the corner for high school senior's.  The Class of 2014 will be embarking into the 'real world' and joining the rat race to get rich and be famous.  Sadly, that is not what life is all about, is it?  It is about hard work and learning to love and be loved to truly be successful!

To help these young people remember that they are not alone and that there are people besides their parents that care whether they succeed or fail, Markets of Sunshine is gifting our handmade products to one of the local high schools in Deltona, Florida this year.
I have been working with the activities director and she was thrilled that we wanted to donate to their student's and teacher's.  No other company has stepped up this year to show their support to the school.  I was so happy to hear that and was even more excited when she accepted our offer.

If you would like to help us reach our goal of 330 products by May 20, 2014, please send an email to me at: and I will give you the mailing address so you can send us 10 or more of your family friendly products.  I will need to have a link of your shop so I can verify what products you have and we can go from there.

About Cindy -
I started my shop January 2012. Now that we had an empty nest that meant I had an extra room. My imagination was running away with ideas. I have made a lot of crafts over the years with my children. But now I wanted to design jewelry. Because I love to wear it, enjoy it, collect vintage jewelry, and it is so versatile. The designs are limitless. I also found out that I appreciate vintage jewelry and began to study and collect it. And use vintage pieces in my designs.
I collect several items scarfs, vintage jewelry, or vintage anything, purses and hats.
